This is what I've heard/seen:
I've heard $599/$699/$799 based on storage,etc.
Data plans: 250MB -$14.99 or Unlimited -$29.99.
No contract. Can cancel at any time. |

base model starts at $499 for 16g. $599 for 32g. $699 for 64g. that's for the model w/ wifi. add $130 to each price for wifi AND 3g. there's a 250mb for $15 & unlimited for $30 through at&t, but they're all unlocked so you can go to any provider you want. (where you'll likely pay more but get better service than effing at&t.)
really cool dock feature and a keyboard dock so you don't always have to use the touch pad. _________________ www.javacado.com |

yeah, big downfall for me: no multi-tasking. i bet that comes out w/ the next generation, so i'll very likely wait for that to be available. _________________ www.javacado.com |

it's more of an iphone/macbook/kindle hybrid. it's also the first step in the future of magazines. _________________ www.javacado.com |

someone recently compared this to the segway, which I found interesting.
I agree with rackdog, I don't really get why anyone would want this. I like magazines. I like how I can shove them in my bag and I like that I can wrap presents in the photos when I'm done with them. |

Except it doesn't make phone calls, multitask or read ebooks that aren't purchased from ibookstore. So it's not so much a "hybrid" as a "lite" version of all those things.
Also, No Flash. Half your advertisers' websites won't run. Journalism is saved! |

right. that's why i said step 1. and one of the reasons i wouldn't run out to by this first version. whether it's developed by apple or another company, this is what magazines will be turning to next.
beyond the technology being developed, for magazines to adopt this format, we have to completely change the way everything is operated. no one is even close to being ready to adopt this as a medium, so there's plenty of time for it to be improved. _________________ www.javacado.com |

That's pretty slick, but I'm still not so sure about the technology. When I'm 'on the go,' I'm perfectly satisfied just reading news stories and articles in a purely text format on my ancient blackberry. If I had a newer smartphone I'm sure the pictures are cool, but still, I'm generally just looking to pass the time or read some breaking news.
When I'm at home, I like a laptop where I can view the web based versions of all these newspapers and magazine articles, while I can also have my gmail open in a separate tab, and have the full use of a PC at my fingertips.
I'm not sure the wide majority of people or even apple product users would want or feel the need to have something like the ipad. I think this might the first recent Apple product not to catch on. |

i think it will be a product that doesn't catch on at first, and certainly will not gain the response (sales-wise) that the iphone or ipod had. but i think it's something that will catch on down the road, once functionality improves. i can see it becoming widely popular with people who travel frequently. _________________ www.javacado.com |
