The Carpet Patrol recently reformed at the end of 1999 after having broken
up earlier in the year. Although still frustrated with their lack of
progress, they agreed that after five years of hard work they owed it to
themselves to get it one more shot. The Carpet Patrol plays pop-punk that
some believe to be rather original, which is important in a genre with so
many rip-off bands that sound alike. One of their songwriters is very
discriminating--and has been described by the drummer as "anal"--but this
is how they maintain their catchy melodies and quirky but clever lyrics.
Influences include the Mr. T Experience, the Ramones, Weezer, They Might be
Giants, and the Beach Boys.
If your band wants to get big, there's no better way than to play shows
with the Carpet Patrol, as many of their one-time contemporaries have gone
on to much bigger things. These bands include the Dropkick Murphy's, the
Ducky Boys, the Pinkerton Thugs, 5 Bucks!, Lagwagon, Weston, Go48, and
Rancid. But despite their lack of luck with getting breaks, the Carpet
Patrol
remains beloved to its modest but loyal fan base. Their energetic live
shows
continue to capture the hearts of youths all over the Merrimack Valley, and
their
recordings have merited praising comments ranging from "Good" to "Very
good" to "Good!" The Carpet Patrol now seeks a label to put out their
debut CD, and they will play just about any show offered to them. However,
in keeping with their developing status as rock stars, they do require a
guarantee of twenty-five cents for club gigs and fifty cents for benefit
shows (they prefer not to help people). E-mail RiotNrrrrd@aol.com for more
information.
