Bob's Day Off has had many faces. The band first assembled for an impromptu occasion, just to make music. Shortly thereafter, the musicians found themselves jamming together more and more, and creating a lifestyle with each other. The name "Bob's Day Off" was coined when the original bass player began missing rehearsal. In it's original form, the band put a few years of experience under it's belt, playing colleges and local clubs, opening for a few national acts such as Ziggy Marley and releasing a compact disc of original music, entitled Half-Mast, which sold over a thousand units.

Despite it's early success, the band's callow age took it's toll. Slowly, the group disintegrated, leaving just two members - Tom Smith, the keyboardist, and Todd Casilli, the lead vocalist. In the winter of 1997, and into early 1998, a new band emerged. Mike Courcy, the guitarist, joined in the summer of 1997. Gitano, the drummer, became an official member in November of the same year, and Matt Maillet, the bassist, joined in February of 1998.

With this new and more perfect union of creative talent in place, Bob's Day Off was poised to go well beyond that which the original had accomplished. It's new life includes the writing of new original music and the unshakable desire to take this music as far as it can go - all the way to the top. The music is fun, straight forward, timeless alternative pop. Lyrics frequently focus on self-worth, personal reflection and, occasionally, on politics and social issues. Their stage performance is high-octane, feeding on energy from itself and the audience who is routinely captivated by the bands power, talent, humor and down to earth feel.

Bob's Day Off has played in many venues, averaging more than two hundred shows per year. Well known throughout New England, the band is fast becoming a household name in the Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts area. A mailing list of 3000 strong, and growing with every appearance, contributes to the group's ability to draw crowds anywhere it plays. Complimenting its mailing list, the Bob's Day Off web-site (www.bobsdayoff.com) contains up to the minute information on schedules and band news, and averages over one-hundred hits per week. Not only does the site give fans a place to learn more about the group, it provides a way for the band to introduce their music and display show listings to new and established fans alike.

The band has many projects in the works. It has recently completed a four song demo which includes songs that will be contained on a new full-length CD entitled Precious, with Scott Reibling (Letters To Cleo) as producer. It also continues to develop new items for merchandising and marketing. Bob's Day Off is a very marketable and personable band, a quality that shows through when dealing with club owners, booking agents, A&R personnel, and most importantly, their loyal fans.

The new face of Bob's Day Off has indeed surpassed the accomplishments of the original group. The members are fully committed to the band and it's lifestyle. The conscious decision to evolve and see it through has turned what started as a jam session into a highly professional comodity which combines good business with creative, energetic music.
