ACETYLENE was formed in January of 1999 out of the ashes of two local bands; Lysurgery and Post Mortem. At the onset of this project all the members agreed on one goal- to create a sound that would take the most exciting aspects of the many different forms of metal (speed, thrash, hardcore, death, atmospheric) and combine them into an explosive package which is Acetylene. After successfully achieving the goal, Acetylene was ready to hit the clubs and see what the response would be. Our first show was amazing due to the great turnout, energy, chemistry, and response. Every show after that was spent gaining experience and respect for one another.
In the fall of '99 Acetylene went into TRIAD studios to record their first full-length album "Elements of Insanity" and finished in December. Acetylene is currently playing local gigs and working on a stage show (enter sgt.acetylene) to compliment their explosive sound. Elements of insanity is due to be released by Skip dog productions in early march 2000.
