175 Grams is one of Boston's few remaining politically active punk bands.
We are a group of free-thinking individuals whose ideals are deeply rooted in
anarchism and syndicalism. We concern ourselves with many issues, such as
environmentalism, anti-sexism, anti-homophobia, anti-fascism, animal rights,
and anti-war, just to name a few. Members of 175 Grams are also involved with
projects such as United Students Against Sweatshops, New England Peace Punks,
and the Crowd Control Collective.
Although we sing about our beliefs, we also believe in letting people make
their own decisions. We are not trying to make anyone believe what we say, we
are simply making the facts available to those who may want them.
Musically, we tend to mix it up- one minute we'll be playing a peace punk
song, the next we'll be playing a thrash/crust song. We have been compared to
bands such as Aus-Rotten, Conflict, and Icons of Filth, if that gives you a
general sense of what we sound like.
